Football Challenge Rules

 |
Pick the winners in each game without
using point spreads. When picking the Monday night
game, include the total number of points you think
will be scored in the game (if you think the score
will be 24 - 17, you would put 41 points). He
or she who has the most wins at the end of Sunday
Games is the winner. The Monday
night game will only be used to break any ties (it is not included in the overall standings).
If the Monday night game does not break the tie,
the person who had the point total closest to
the actual number will be the winner. If you have
any questions about the rules, please send a note
to the Commissioner.
The Bye Rule
The Bye Rule was implemented during the 2000-2001 season, and is as follows:
The Official Standings of Callahan's Football
Challenge are determined by taking the best 16
weeks of a player's 17 week season. That is, the
player's worst weekly performance is dropped and
the player receives a "Bye" for that
week. The Commissioner will begin posting Official
Standings (with the Bye Rule implemented) starting
with Week 10.

Special Update - 2004-2005 Final Results
The final results from the 2004-2005 Football Challenge have been
tabulated (finally!!!). Congratulations to Kevin B. for winning
the 2004-2005 Football Challenge. You can see all the final standings
and season awards, as well as read how Kevin pulled out his victory
over the final weeks, here.
Week 3 Results
What a great weekend for sports. Baseball fans are seeing several
races go down to the final weekend (especially those of us in the
greater New York and Boston areas), golf fans were treated to an exciting
Presidents Cup, and football fans saw 3 overtime games, and several
other exciting contests. This week was exciting in the challenge as
well, as Tim and Rich posted great records in the early games, and
then went undefeated in the afternoon and evening games. Tim was one
of only 5 players this week to take Atlanta on the road against Buffalo
with a less than 100% Mike Vick. It paid off, as that was the difference
between his 12-1 record, and Rich's 11-2 record. Congratulations Tim
on winning week 3, and jumping from a tie in 5th place to sole posession
of 1st place in the overall standings!!! [Week
3 Results]
Week 4 Results
We're a quarter of the way through the football season (almost),
and it already looks like it will be a dogfight for the overall
title this year. The top 5 players are within 3 games of each other,
and the next 5 are all tied at 6 games back. And that doesn't include
Ben, who after winning week one, and leading after week two, inexplicably
failed to submit picks for week three (he was too busy traveling
for business or something like that :) ). But Ben made a statement
upon his return in week 4, as he posted an 11-2 record, tops for
the week. Ben must now hope that when the Bye Rule goes into effect
in week 10, he'll jump back up the leaderboard. Congratulations
Ben on your week 4 win!!! [Week
